Top 5 Preschools in the CBD

Are you a parent working in Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD)? The daily juggle of morning drop-offs for your preschooler is probably turning into a challenge.

Fortunately, you can make it easier by enrolling your little one in a preschool that’s closer to your office.

If you want some of the best-regarded options to get you started, this list should help. These options span a wide range of areas in the CBD, from Raffles Place to the Marina Centre.

1. Lily Valley Preschool

Lily Valley Preschool is a non-profit preschool in the CBD, with their centre at Marina Square. That puts it a short walk away from City Hall or Esplanade MRT, and is a great option for a preschool if you’re working in the Marina Bay financial district.

One of the key attractions of the school is that it’s Reggio Emilia-inspired. Reggio Emilia is an educational philosophy originating in Italy, known for its treatment of children as active and capable learners.

Lily Valley is a good choice if you want tailored play-based learning and cutting-edge facilities that include dedicated learning ateliers for children’s daily exploration. Parents have also highlighted the quality of the centre’s teacher engagement and learning spaces!

Address: Marina Square, 6 Raffles Boulevard, #02-27/28

2. MindChamps PreSchool @ One Raffles Place

MindChamps has several branches all over the island. The CBD option is situated next to Raffles Place MRT, on the sixth floor of One Raffles Place Tower 1.

The centre is spacious, at about 10,000 square feet, and includes an outdoor play area and eco-garden. The preschool is also known for running on its proprietary SMILES methodology, which combines neuroscience with psychology and theatre-based strategies.

Address: 1 Raffles Place, Tower 1, #06-00

3. Mulberry Learning

Mulberry Learning has three branches in the CBD alone. They’re at Shenton Way, Tanjong Pagar, and Clarke Quay. That gives you many options if you switch offices or are looking for convenient drop-off routes.

The Shenton Way centre at OUE Downtown Gallery is probably the biggest (if that matters to you), at over 9,000 square feet. It even holds an indoor playground. The one at Tanjong Pagar Plaza has the advantage of being just four minutes away from the MRT, though.

Mulberry Learning is another Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool as well. This means particular attention is paid again to its physical learning environments. Children are also encouraged to explore and discover knowledge instead of following rigid instructions from teachers.

Addresses: 6A Shenton Way, #03-01/04, OUE Downtown Gallery | 5 Tanjong Pagar Plaza, #02-01 | #01-42 to 49 Upper Circular Road, The Riverwalk

4. LeClare Preschool

LeClare is found at the Singapore Conference Hall on Shenton Way. It follows an integrated inquiry approach with a strong emphasis on the arts in particular.

In fact, full-time music and art specialists work alongside LeClare’s classroom teachers. This allows them to weave creative expression into learning, even when the topics are about numeracy.

In addition to that, this is another Reggio-inspired school. They also offer immersive Mandarin programmes, pairing their emphasis on creativity with solid support for bilingualism.

Address: 7 Shenton Way, #01-02, Singapore Conference Hall

5. Kinderland @ MND

Kinderland has a branch at the Ministry of National Development (MND) on Maxwell Road, and it’s worth a look, especially if you want a Partner Operator (POP) preschool. This means it offers quality childcare at reasonable rates capped by the government.

The centre is open to the public and runs full-day programmes for children aged two months to six years. It offers a very large rooftop outdoor area with playgrounds, a tricycle zone, and a garden.

Address: 7 Maxwell Road, #06-02, Annexe B, MND Complex
